Shikishi boards are a special type of multi-layered art paper from Japan. A stiff paperboard core forms the sturdy center of each shikishi board. Smooth washi paper forms the backing layer; the edges are covered in foil tape; and the front is made from a variety of different washi papers for drawing, writing, and painting.
These long shikishi boards (14" x 2.4") have white paper with horizon-blue gradients at each side. The paper works well for many different art media, including all kinds of drawing, mixed media, and collage. We used R&F Drawing Oils in our example photos, but we encourage you to experiment with whatever's in your studio!
