Our new line of fountain pen inks
You might know about our other ink product, Optimist Pigment Ink. Optimist is a waterproof shellac ink for drawing, painting, and illustrations, which we've offered in various forms since 2016.
This is something different: a water-thin, dye-based ink that's meant for your fountain pen (or your glass pen, or your Kakimori metal nib, or your vintage dip pen...) It flows freely through fine pen mechanisms and washes out cleanly with our Universal Pen Cleaner. You can fill any brand of converter or empty cartridge, and you can use this ink with empty felt-tip pens.
VOLCANIC BLUE: a bold blue with red sheen
This bottle contains Volcanic Blue, a deeply saturated cyan that shades to navy and exhibits a red sheen on fountain pen-friendly paper (like Midori MD Paper, which we used for our writing tests.)
In our tests, we loved the range of tones you can achieve with Volcanic Blue. In a fine fountain pen, it's a bright, clear blue; from a dip pen or a broad nib, it's very dark and dynamic. With a bit of water, you can partially lift this water-soluble ink, for sketch-and-wash techniques on mixed media or watercolor paper.
Low-waste packaging
We've selected a glass bottle with cone-lined cap for our inks; it's a container you can rinse out and use again for all kinds of purposes. To protect the bottle in transit, we've made a minimal paper package from one folded sheet of paper.
Each bottle contains 24 mL of ink.
